St. Alphonsus Home and School Association
The primary purpose of this association is to provide a forum for parents and school personnel to work cooperatively for the benefit of the children of the parish school. The objectives of this association are (1) to encourage effective communication and cooperation between parents and educators dedicated to the best Catholic education for each child; (2) to offer through well-planned programs information of particular interest to parents; (3) to create a greater appreciation of Catholic education; and (4) to promote cooperation between all approved Archdiocesan organizations working for the advancement of Christian education in Catholic homes and schools. The primary purpose of the association is to provide the opportunity for all the children in St. Alphonsus Parish to participate in extracurricular athletic activities which help to develop the fundamentals of sports and strive to teach self-worth, sportsmanship, discipline, and the importance of physical fitness in their lives. The objectives of this association are (1) to offer a positive Christian learning experience; (2) to foster a sense of sportsmanship_how to win with grace and lose with dignity; (3) to provide an opportunity for wholesome, enjoyable use of time by children through sports activities; (4) to provide an opportunity for parents to become involved in sports programs and to set good examples for their children; (5) to foster teamwork and unity among participants; (6) to aid in physical development and wellbeing; (7) to teach fundamentals of sports and help develop athletic skills; and (8) to raise funds to support the athletic programs.
