Pray With Us This Lent

"A clean heart create for me, God, and renew within me your steadfast spirit." - Psalm 51:12
Pray with us this Lent! Lent is a forty day season where we purify our hearts and prepare for the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord. As Father Kevin mentioned in his bulletin article, this season is call to pray, fast, and give alms.

There are many beautiful ways to live these three Lenten practices well, and we as a parish are hosting some great opportunities if you need some ideas!

Dive Into Prayer

  • Eucharistic Adoration: Come visit our Lord in the Eucharist! Eucharistic Adoration is from 8am to 8pm each Thursday; all are welcome to stay for as much or as little time as you can, no commitment required. Make this Lent a time to spend time with the Lord!
  • Liturgy of the Hours: Also known as the prayer of the Church! Every Tuesday at 6pm.
  • Stations of the Cross: Every Friday at 7pm, join us as we walk with Jesus through the Stations of the Cross. This devotion allows us to enter into the Passion of Our Lord as we prepare for Holy Week.
  • Living Stations of the Cross: Tuesday, March 26th at 6pm and Wednesday, March 27th at 2pm the St. Alphonsus middle schoolers will be presenting Living Stations of the Cross. Please join them to pray this devotional.

  • The Church in the U.S. and the Wider World: A Traveler's View, Thursday March 21st: While the Catholic Church is universal in professing the Truths expressed in the great Creeds, HOW that faith is expressed in practice varies widely from country to country, diocese to diocese, and even from parish to parish. In the last century , it was common to assert that the Church is always the SAME and never CHANGES. We know now that this was never true. I hope to highlight some of those differences in liturgy, devotions, governance, and outreach. Hopefully, we’ll see how this diversity does not threaten our unity, but rather strengthens it. Thanks for considering joining me. Fr. Alan Jurkus is St. Al's former Pastor and world traveler. Freewill Offering. Registration Welcome.
  • Morning for Men, Saturday March 23rd: Men! Join us at The Conservancy for Healing and Heritage Chapel, located in Franklin. This morning is for men of all ages and stages of life. Place: Conservancy Chapel, 7410 W. Rawson Ave., Franklin. Limit: 30 persons. Fee: $25. Register with payment by Mar. 15.
  • Church History V, Tuesday April 23rd: We’ll explore the Church during the enlightenment and the age of revolutions that rocked the world. We’ll also explore responses to the events of the modern, contemporary world by the Church , and look at key personalities and trends. Fr. Kevin McManaman is Pastor of St. Alphonsus Parish.
